Few steps away elegant, simply refined San Carlino, an architectural baroque masterpiece by Bernini's rival, Francesco Borromini. an almost blinding whiteness gives a spacial impression to an area actually narrow and limited in space. Borromini's masterpiece gives visitors an unexpected welcome as they are about to leave the church by a side door: the "chiostro", where a vertical architecture of light pillars support a series of elegant balconies overlooking the miniature cloister.  A short walk leads you to Santa Maria della Vittoria to see the "Ecstasy", Bernini's incredibly sensual and spectacular sculpture. Next the Barberini palace, a former princely residence, to view a precious art collection including Raphael's "Fornarina" and  Caravaggio's  dramatic "Judith and Holphernes". A stroll through the charming gardens and then, along the Via Sistina. to a spectacular Rome panorama.  Down from the Spanish Steps, Rome  exclusive fashion designers showrooms and  jewellers windows.
