of imperial palaces ruins. Toss a coin in the Trevi fountain, see
designers showrooms by the Spanish Steps and visit the Pantheon. See
Bernini’s fountains, sidewalk artists, and outdoor cafés in the Piazza
Navona. Following a break visit the Vatican Museums. Stunning works of
art in the Candelabras, Tapestries and Map galleries introduce
Michelangelo’s breath-taking ceiling and altar piece in the Sistine
Chapel. Enter the Basilica of St Peter. See Michelangelo’s moving
“Pieta” and Bernini’s bronze “Baldacchino” overlooking the papal altar.
See St Peter’s Square with its 284 Bernini’s columns, the Papal palace
and the colourful Swiss Guards. Time to start on the return journey back
to the cruise terminal reached around 6.00 p.m.
